KETOCONAZOLE TABLET
Indications:
It can be used for systemic fungal infections such as systemic candidiasis, paraccidioidomycosis, histoplasmosis, coccidioidomycosis and blastomycosis.
Contra-indications:
Contraindicated if known to be allergic to ketoconazole or any component of this product.
Contraindicated in patients with acute and chronic liver disease.
Prohibited for pregnant women.
Adverse Effects:
Gastrointestinal tract, hepatobiliary system
Common: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain.
Rare: Diarrhea, dyspepsia, reversible liver enzyme elevation.
Drug Interactions:
Drugs that affect ketoconazole metabolism
Enzyme-induced drugs, such as rifampicin, rifampudding, carbamazepine, isoniazid, and phenytoin, significantly reduce the bioavailability and efficacy of ketoconazole.
Precautions & Warning:
Cases of severe hepatotoxicity, including fatal or requiring liver transplantation, are extremely rare, and a small number of patients have no significant risk factors for liver disease. A few cases appeared within one month of starting treatment, and a few cases appeared within one week of starting treatment.
Use in Pregnancy and Nursing Mothers:
Prohibited for pregnant and lactating women.
