CHLOROQUINE INJECTION 

Indications:

It can be used to treat patients with chloroquine-sensitive falciparum malaria and vivax malaria, malariae malariae and malaria ovalis that cannot be taken orally. It can also be used to treat patients with parenteral amoebiasis such as amoebic liver abscess, and switch to oral medication after improvement.

Adverse Effects:

There may be photophobia, impaired color vision, decreased vision, and blindness in severe cases. It can also cause the suppression of the sinoatrial node, leading to arrhythmia, body insufficiency, and in severe cases, AS-S syndrome, and even death.

Drug Interactions:

This product is easy to cause allergic dermatitis when used with butazone.
When combined with chlorpromazine, it is easy to aggravate liver damage.
This product has a direct inhibitory effect on the neuromuscular junction, and streptomycin can aggravate this side effect.

Precautions & Warning:

Use with caution in patients with severe polymorphic erythema, hematoporphyria, psoriasis and psychosis.
Chloroquine injection should not be used as intramuscular injection, especially in children, it is easy to cause myocardial inhibition. Intravenous infusion is prohibited.
Chloroquine can cause fetal hydrocephalus, limb deformity and deafness, so pregnant women should not use it.

Use in Pregnancy and Nursing Mothers:

Prohibited for pregnant and lactating women.

Treatment/antidote in The Event of Overdose:

Acute chloroquine poisoning is often fatal, with a lethal dose as low as 50mg(stroma)/kg, and rapid onset of nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, followed by slurred speech, agitation, visual impairment, dyspnea due to pulmonary edema, or even arrest, arrhythmia, convulsions, and coma. These phenomena should be stopped immediately, and symptomatic treatment, especially to maintain cardiopulmonary function.
